Citi AAdvantage Executive welcome offer: 125,000 miles after $15,000 in 5 months

Citi’s AAdvantage Executive page is showing a limited-time welcome: 125,000 AAdvantage bonus miles after $15,000 in purchases in the first 5 months. Annual fee

What happened

Citi’s US AAdvantage Executive product page now lists a limited-time welcome: 125,000 AAdvantage bonus miles after $15,000 in purchases in the first 5 months of account opening. The annual fee on the page is $695.

American Airlines’ apply page shows the same numbers and stamps it Our Best Offer Ever. The legal name is Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Legend Mastercard®, not the old World Elite label.

This follows the August refresh. A Citi / American press note dated 3 August 2026 set the new fee and perks for 23 August. Public apply pages before that still commonly showed 70,000 miles after $7,000 in 3 months, which is also the row The Points Guy had in a June roundup. After the refresh went live, the bonus jumped to 125,000 and the spend window stretched with it.

Fee, Admirals Club, and Loyalty Point changes are already on this site: Citi AAdvantage Executive refresh. This note is only the welcome offer.

How to read the numbers

| Item | Apply page now | Last common public offer | |------|----------------|--------------------------| | Bonus miles | 125,000 AAdvantage | 70,000 | | Spend | $15,000 in 5 months | $7,000 in 3 months | | Annual fee | $695 | $595 before the refresh | | Marketing line | AA page: Our Best Offer Ever | Standard public tier |

125,000 is 55,000 miles above 70,000. The minimum spend also more than doubled, and you get two extra months. Against only the required spend, the new offer is about 8.3 miles per dollar. The old one was about 10. More miles. A heavier hurdle per dollar you have to put on the card.

Citi’s terms say the new-account bonus is not available if you already took an Executive new-account bonus in the past 48 months, or if you converted another Citi card that earned a new-account bonus in that window into Executive. Pre-qualify and the full application can show different offers. AA’s page also warns that leaving the page can make an offer disappear.

The card is still a lounge card

A larger welcome does not rewrite the product. Citi still sells this as the personal AA cobrand with Admirals Club membership: unlimited visits for the primary cardmember, plus up to two guests or immediate family, across more than 100 Admirals Club and partner lounges. Primary annual fee $695. Authorized users: $175 covers up to three, then $175 each after that.

The page still lists up to $100 a year back on inflight and eligible Admirals Club spend. Purchase miles still count toward Loyalty Points, with 10,000 LP bonuses at 50,000 / 90,000 / 165,000 / 240,000 in a status year. Free checked bags and priority lanes on domestic AA are still the day-to-day case for the card, not something that arrived with this 125k.

Carddoger take

This is the post-refresh welcome on the apply page, not another annual-fee story. 125,000 miles is a bigger headline than the last public 70,000. $15,000 in 5 months is also a bigger bill than $7,000 in 3 months. If you would not naturally spend that, price the extra spend before you price the miles.

Our Best Offer Ever is AA marketing. We record the numbers on the page. We do not treat that slogan as an independent ranking. The 48-month rule is hard. If you already took an Executive bonus, do not plan around 125k.

If you already wanted this card for Admirals Club and Loyalty Points, 125k is extra. If you barely fly American, look at cheaper AA cobrands first. Do not let a large mile figure drag the decision.

Citi and American apply pages, pre-qualify results, and the card terms that day win. This is a public-page roundup. It is not apply advice.
