Solflare Card is paused while it leaves Kulipa for a new issuer
Solflare says Solflare Card is paused from the notice date, with a hoped restore in August after a new issuer. Kulipa is shrinking and old-program cards cannot
What happened
Solflare says Solflare Card cannot be used for now, with a hoped return in August after a switch to a new issuer.
The reason given is issuer Kulipa shrinking. Cards on the Kulipa program cannot keep running, so Solflare is moving Solflare Card to a new issuer. Solflare says it tried to keep the lights on, is sorry the notice was late, and says the timing was not fully in its control.
Official points
- Funds are safe in the user's wallet
- No extra user step
- Solflare Card spend pulls from the user's self-custodial wallet. Funds were never held by a third party, so they stay put
Scope
- Virtual and physical cards both pause
- Open Borrow positions still show on the Cards page
- The rest of the wallet keeps working
Solflare also says a new issuer is being wired in, and it wants the card closer to what people asked for, including Apple Pay / Google Pay, higher limits, and a new cashback stack. When the new card is ready, users can create a new Solflare Card on the updated program. More detail in the coming weeks.
This is from a Solflare team notice. Policy and restore timing follow later official posts.
Carddoger take
Issuer rail swap. Kulipa is off. The new rail is not live. Card spend pauses in the gap.
- Money stays in your wallet, per Solflare. No emergency sweep in that copy
- The card does not spend (virtual and plastic). Do not lean on it for travel or must-pay tills
- The wallet still works. Borrow still shows on Cards
If you hold Solflare Card, pay with something else for now. Watch the Solflare app, socials, and mail for August restore and new-card steps. Apple Pay, higher limits, or new cashback are hopes after the rail change. Shipped features win.
Crypto spend cards sit on issuer and compliance rails. Partner changes are common. Solflare official notes and the app win. This is public information, not invest or asset-move advice.
