Lufthansa Group is launching group-wide Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi on Starlink. Miles & More and Travel ID users get it in every cabin. First service is 19 August 20

What happened

Lufthansa Group said on 10 August 2026 that group-wide inflight internet, Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi, is starting, with Starlink underneath. First equipped flight is 19 August 2026, on a Lufthansa Airbus A320neo. The group wants about 850 aircraft fitted by 2029, across its airlines.

The product is free for Miles & More members and Travel ID users, in every cabin. Travel ID itself is a free signup. Official copy treats high-speed connectivity as a group-wide, all-cabin feature, not a paid add-on on a few long-haul routes.

  • Around 2029, about 850 group aircraft. The group calls the timetable ambitious. Full coverage still spans years.
  • Low-earth-orbit satellite broadband. Official copy says video and cloud work should fit, with speeds that can approach ground broadband in some cases.
  • Designed gate to gate, including windows before takeoff, during taxi, and after landing.

Use rules

Passengers have to accept terms. The group says those terms came out of passenger research. Common limits include

  • Headphones when playing audio or video
  • No voice or video calls
  • No livestreaming from the aircraft

Why the group framed it this way

The scope is the story. SWISS, Austrian, Brussels, ITA, and Eurowings are named in the same install list. The aim is one connectivity story inside the group, not a few flagship long-haul routes with fast wifi.

The cost is waiting. Long-haul flagship fleets already had better wifi on some metal. Carriers such as Brussels Airlines had almost none. There is no public queue for which tails go first. Watch the aircraft you board.

CCO Dieter Vranckx said high-speed internet should be part of the trip, on every group airline and in every cabin, with about 850 aircraft equipped by 2029. Seats and menus stay in the onboard promise. Connectivity is now in that same list.

If you fly Europe soon through Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, or Vienna, register Travel ID or confirm Miles & More before boarding. Until 2029, the tail and the airline decide whether wifi is actually on. Do not assume every flight. Cabin terms block calls and outbound livestreams. Trust the portal in the seat.
