2. Search a merchant (Amazon, Best Buy, Nike, and similar)
3. Confirm the rate, then Shop Now into the merchant
4. Check out there. Avoid switching browsers, wiping cookies, or heavy ad blockers mid-checkout
5. Open Shopping Trips and confirm the trip and estimated cash back

Browser extension

1. Install the official Chrome / Edge add-on (search Rakuten in the store)
2. On the merchant site, open the extension
3. If cash back can activate, tap Activate Cash Back
4. Then order

Useful habits. Build a cart on a deal page if you want, close it, re-enter from Rakuten, and paste the code again. Amazon is pickier. Stay on one Rakuten path through checkout. Some Amex cards include ShopRunner. People sometimes log into ShopRunner first, then enter via Rakuten. Stacking is merchant-specific. Checkout page wins. A few old catalog sites needed affiliate parameters copied onto a product URL. Most stores do not. Shop Now is enough.

Tracking and missing cash back

The in-store list is small. Useful if you already shop those chains.
