What happened

Barclays issues the Miles & More World Elite Mastercard, the main US cobrand for Lufthansa Miles & More. Around August 2026, the public welcome sat back at a higher 70,000 Lufthansa miles. Community roundups have also seen 100k recently. Annual fee is $89, not waived in year one.

Welcome offer

Common public figure is 70k Lufthansa miles. The spend window is often 90 days after approval (some roundups cite about $3,000. Barclays application pages have also shown $4,000 spend plus paying the annual fee). Use your application page and the account terms after approval. Do not lock one blog number.

Public history includes 50k, 70k, 80k, and 100k. 100k is treated as a recent high. Whether miles post only after the annual fee is paid follows that offer's copy.

Fee and everyday benefits

  • $89 annual fee, not waived year one. Whether Senator / HON Circle memberships waive it follows issuer terms.
  • No foreign transaction fee.
  • Earning roundups. About 2 miles per $1 on Miles & More partner airline tickets, about 1 mile per $1 elsewhere.
  • Two Lufthansa Business Lounge vouchers per year is common. Lounge list follows the benefits page.

Award miles into status miles

Each year you can convert some spend-earned award miles into Lufthansa status miles at about 5:1. Roundups often cite a floor around 5,000 award miles and a ceiling around 25,000 (about 1,000 to 5,000 status miles). Window, ratio, and cap follow Miles & More / Barclays that year.

Companion award fences

The card often includes a companion award. Common limits in roundups

  • Usually must originate in the US
  • Destinations can include Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Far East (benefits-page list)
  • Often Lufthansa-operated
  • Taxes and fees out of pocket
  • Economy, and booking classes often limited to Y / B / H / M

Those classes sit high in the inventory. Europe award space in them is often thin. Do not treat this as a free companion economy seat you can book anytime.

How Miles & More actually tickets

Miles & More awards are known for high fuel surcharges. Community use that works better includes some United (UA) domestic awards and a few other carriers. Most Lufthansa-group transatlantic long-hauls add large taxes. Charts devalue and move.

Use a public award chart for a region ballpark (taxes extra). North America round-trip business numbers have looked OK in some past tables. Still price live space and the cash total.

Mileage Bargains are promo awards on selected routes. Worth a separate search on the airline site.

Other roundup rules (official site wins)

  • One-ways are allowed. One-way cost is often half a round trip. One-ways usually cannot stop over
  • Segment counts are capped by region
  • Round-trip stopover rules are messy and often want a stop in another region

Apply notes

  • Barclays is relatively sensitive to recent hard pulls. Roundups often suggest keeping the last 6 months of HPs to a low single digit.
  • A loose 6/24 observation. Many new accounts in 24 months can hurt approval. It is not a Chase-style hard wall.
  • A longer credit file helps.
  • Application copy has shown Permanent Resident (green card or citizen) language. Approvals vary. Non-PR/citizen applies at their own risk.
  • If you do not get World Elite, you may get a downgraded product with thinner lounge benefits. Read the approval letter and the card art.

Reconsideration

Application status is on the official status page. Reconsideration roundups often cite 866-408-4064. The agent may ask again about income and debt, and may run another hard pull (usually disclosed first).

Carddoger take

$89 annual fee, no FTF, Lufthansa cobrand. The current hook is a welcome around 70k (recent high around 100k), a small yearly spend-to-status conversion, lounge vouchers, and no foreign fee. The miles themselves, with fuel surcharges and cabin rules, fit selected UA domestic or promo awards. They are a poor everyday currency for any Europe business seat.

The companion award's Y/B/H/M fence kills many trips. Before you apply, match the live offer's spend floor and whether the annual fee must be paid first. Also look at hard pulls in the last six months and new accounts in 24 months.

Barclays / Miles & More application page, Rates & Fees, and the account benefits page win. Public roundup. Not apply or invest advice.
