What happened

Chase United MileagePlus Explorer is showing two public welcome tracks. One is miles-only, about 60k. One is miles plus cash, about 35k plus $500. Whether both appear, the spend floor, and any authorized-user bump follow the application page you open that day.

Occasional 40k+25k spend ladders exist. The second step is often a high bar. Roundups usually do not treat that as the main welcome.

Fee and ongoing benefits (short)

• Annual fee $150, waived year one (Chase Rates & Fees)
• Earning. United / dining / hotels often 2x MileagePlus miles, 1x elsewhere
• Bags. UA-operated tickets bought with the card, or award taxes paid with it, commonly include a free first checked bag
• Boarding. Group 2 on qualifying tickets
• United Club. Two one-time United Club passes in the first year and in later years after you pay the fee. Not unlimited membership
• Other common lines. Inflight bonus, MileagePlus X shopping, some award inventory views, no foreign transaction fee, up to about $100 toward Global Entry / TSA PreCheck
• Coupons after the refresh. United Hotels, rideshare, Avis/Budget yearly credits. Benefits center list wins

Eligibility

1. You already hold this card, or you took this welcome in the last 24 months (clock starts when the bonus posted). Usually no new welcome, and often a decline.
2. Chase 5/24 still applies. Tight 5/24 space has to be shared with CSP / Ink / Sapphire.
3. Status can be checked on Chase automated lines. Human reconsideration uses the official number Chase publishes that week.
4. Bonus amount, spend window, AU bump, and statement-credit posting follow the application page and the approval mail only.

United Club Doctor of Credit on 35k+$500

Carddoger take

Explorer sits in the middle of the UA cobrand stack. Waived first-year fee, bag, boarding, two Club passes. Fine for people who fly United sometimes. Between 60k miles and 35k+$500, pick the cash if you want the statement credit, and check whether the AU bump is on your page.

1. Open both apply buttons. Confirm 60k versus 35k+$500. Save the terms.
2. $3,000 in 3 months should be spend you were going to do. Do not manufacture it for miles.
3. Run 5/24 and the 24-month welcome rule before you use a slot.
4. Year two is $150. If Club passes and coupons go unused, product-change to no-fee Gateway is a later Chase conversation.
