What happened

On 22 August 2026, US Credit Card Guide rewrote the Wells Fargo Everyday Checking bonus as $500, with an end date of 6 October 2026. The matching official page is accountoffers.wellsfargo.com/offerbonus.

Wells Fargo still has another public page. checkingoffer still shows $325 through 13 October 2026. The deposit test is almost the same. The dollar amount and the code are not the same offer. Follow the page you actually open.

The $500 page is short. Open Everyday Checking as a new consumer checking customer, with the bonus code that page attaches. Within 90 calendar days of opening, post at least $1,000 in qualifying electronic deposits. After that, Wells Fargo says it deposits $500 within about 30 calendar days. The account has to stay open. Branch openings list a $25 minimum deposit.

Online from that page, the bank says you can only open Everyday Checking. A code emailed from the page can be used in a branch for other eligible consumer checking accounts.

Who is out

The $500 terms limit it to new consumer checking customers, usually the primary owner. These groups are excluded.

  • Anyone who received a Wells Fargo consumer checking bonus in the past 12 months
  • Wells Fargo employees
  • Non-resident aliens, or foreign entities that signed any IRS Form W-8
  • Deposit accounts in the Wells Fargo Private Bank experience

It cannot combine with other consumer deposit offers. One bonus per customer and account. Wells Fargo can change or end it. Suspected abuse can mean a closed account or a clawback.

US Credit Card Guide also says people who already have Wells Fargo checking usually cannot use a new-customer bonus. That matches “new consumer checking customers.” The bank’s own coding still wins.

What counts as a qualifying electronic deposit

The $500 page and the fee-waiver page use the same definition. The money has posted, and it is one of these.

  1. An ACH direct deposit, such as payroll or a government benefit
  2. An RTP or FedNow instant payment
  3. An electronic credit to the debit card over Visa or Mastercard, such as an OCT

Not counted: transfers between accounts, mobile check deposit, Zelle, cash or checks at a branch or ATM. Early Pay Day ACH that is still pending does not count until it posts.

The $1,000 in 90 days is only for the bonus. Avoiding the $15 monthly fee is a separate test each fee period.

The monthly fee is $15, not $10

The product page, the fee summary, and the $500 footnote all say $15, or $0 if you meet a waiver. US Credit Card Guide still says $10 in the body. Use the bank site.

Meet any one item each fee period.

  • At least $500 in qualifying electronic deposits
  • $1,500 minimum daily balance
  • At least $5,000 in qualifying deposit and investment balances, totaled on the last business day of the period
  • Primary owner age 17–24; age 25 ends that waiver
  • A qualifying monthly non-civilian military direct deposit in Worldwide Military Banking

Seventeen-year-olds usually open in a branch. Online applications generally need age 18.

Public guides say there is no early termination fee. Closing too soon can miss the bonus. The deposit agreement is the rule.

$500 and $325 at the same time

The $325 page ends later and uses the same $1,000 / 90-day deposit test. Do not start on the $500 page and finish on the $325 page. The codes will not match. Official copy says consumer deposit offers do not stack.

Start with the landing page. For $500, use offerbonus and confirm it still says October 6, 2026. $325 is a different code.

After opening, post $1,000 in qualifying electronic deposits within 90 days and keep the account open until the bonus hits. Budget the monthly fee as $15. The easy waivers are $500 of qualifying deposits a period, or a $1,500 daily balance.

If you took a Wells Fargo checking bonus in the last year, already have checking there, filed a W-8, or work for the bank, read the exclusions first. The bonus may be taxable.

The offer page, the Consumer Account Fee and Information Schedule, and the account agreement win. This is the 22 August guide update plus the official $500 and $325 pages. It is not tax or account-opening advice.
