What happened
On 15 Jul 2026, Air Canada Aeroplan and Hyatt World of Hyatt put out matching releases under the line Better in Both Worlds. Linked members get point transfers, cross-brand awards, dual earn, and status accelerators.
Public materials put the combined networks around 1,300-plus destinations and 1,500-plus hotels. What follows is the Air Canada and Hyatt releases, the Aeroplan conversion page, and travel-media notes. Use the live link page and terms in your accounts.
| Direction | Who can transfer | Ratio | Floor / cap | | --------- | ---------------- | ----- | ----------- | | Hyatt to Aeroplan | Any World of Hyatt member | 2:1 (2 Hyatt = 1 Aeroplan) | 5,000 Hyatt minimum, then 1,000 steps | | Aeroplan to Hyatt | Linked Aeroplan Elite | 2:1 | 500 Aeroplan minimum, 100,000 a day / 250,000 a week |
Both directions are 2:1, not 1:1. Travel write-ups generally treat a raw transfer as a value loss, better for topping up or clearing a leftover balance.
Aeroplan to Hyatt is Elite only, and the accounts must be linked. Hyatt to Aeroplan is wider.
The Aeroplan conversion page says most transfers post inside 72 hours, and can take up to about 10 business days.
Transfers are usually final. Price the award you want before you confirm.
The releases also add two awards that skip a raw 2:1 transfer:
- Aeroplan to Hyatt Free Night Award. Aeroplan points can book a qualifying Hyatt Free Night. Category 1-4 and Category 1-7 certificates are listed. Public copy starts at 25,000 Aeroplan points. Hotel band, dates, and inventory follow the live award page. That path is not automatically better than transferring at 2:1 and booking with Hyatt points.
- Hyatt to an Aeroplan flight reward certificate. World of Hyatt points can buy a 30,000-point Aeroplan Flight Reward Certificate for Air Canada and airline-partner award tickets. Several outlets write 50,000 Hyatt points for that 30,000-point certificate (5,000 Aeroplan better than a raw 2:1). Use the official award page.
On qualifying Hyatt stays, Aeroplan members can keep earning Hyatt points, or switch to a flat 500 Aeroplan points per stay instead of Hyatt points.
Canada-issued Aeroplan cobrand holders, after linking, can earn both currencies on qualifying Hyatt spend. Release examples:
- Premium personal: about 2 Hyatt Bonus plus 2 Aeroplan per qualifying C$1
- Premium business: about 2 Hyatt Bonus plus 2.5 Aeroplan per C$1
- Core personal and business sit on lower ratios
Stacking and what counts as qualifying spend follow the card and Hyatt terms.
Aeroplan Elite or a qualifying Premium card can run a yearly 90-day Hyatt status challenge.
| Target | Challenge nights | Usual bar (about) | | ------ | ---------------- | ----------------- | | Discoverist | 4 nights | Usually about 10 | | Explorist | 10 nights | Usually about 30 | | Globalist | 20 nights | Usually about 60 |
Public Globalist notes include breakfast for up to 4 when it qualifies, a room upgrade when available, and 4 pm late checkout.
Canada Aeroplan Premium cobrands, after linking, official summary:
- Complimentary World of Hyatt Discoverist
- 5 tier-qualifying nights a year
- Up to 2 entries a year in that 90-day challenge
- Dual earn on qualifying Hyatt stays
Hyatt status toward Aeroplan:
- Discoverist, Explorist, and Globalist, after linking, get C$20 Air Canada ticket credit a year.
- Explorist and Globalist Aeroplan Elite challenges are listed for later in 2026.

Carddoger take
This is a full airline-hotel stack, not a single transfer rail. Free Nights, flight certificates, cobrand dual earn, and a 90-day run at Globalist sit in one deal. Canada members and Aeroplan Premium cardholders feel it most.
Link the accounts before you transfer or start a challenge. Most perks need that link.
A raw 2:1 transfer is usually a poor rate. Check the 25k Free Night start and the 50k Hyatt to 30k flight certificate against a real trip first.
If you already have Aeroplan Elite or a Premium card, and you can stack 4, 10, or 20 Hyatt nights in 90 days, the status challenge is the piece to watch, more than forcing a transfer.
US-card-only readers with no Aeroplan home have little here unless they already collect Air Canada or Hyatt.
Aeroplan and World of Hyatt link pages, award pages, and the partnership terms win. This is public releases plus media notes. It is not apply, transfer, or status advice.
