Barclays-issued AAdvantage Aviator accounts moved to Citibank on April 24, 2026. Citi’s transition page at Landing at Citi said leftover Aviator benefits would last only “for a limited period of time,” with advance notice of any change. Aviator Red mapped to Citi / AAdvantage Platinum Select. Aviator Silver mapped to Citi / AAdvantage Globe.

Citi’s benefits overviews for those transferred cards put a block of old perks under LIMITED-TIME LEGACY BENEFITS. They apply only to former Aviator cardmembers, until Citi sends advance notice.

Statement notices now set that date as October 25, 2026. Purchases on or after that date no longer count toward those grandfathered credits.

Former Aviator Red → Platinum Select

  • The anniversary-year $25 inflight Wi-Fi credit stops on October 25
  • The Barclays American Airlines companion certificate can be earned one more time, through your next cardmembership anniversary, then it leaves the account. Certificates already in the AAdvantage account keep their original expiration dates. The old earn rule was $20,000 spend plus keeping the account open 45 days after the anniversary, for one guest at $99 plus taxes and fees

Platinum Select’s own perks remain, including 2× miles on dining and gas and a $125 American Airlines flight discount after $20,000 spend and renewal. That discount is not the same benefit as the Barclays $99 companion certificate.

Former Aviator Silver → Globe

These stop on October 25, and spend on or after that date does not earn them:

  • 2× miles on hotels and car rentals (then 1× on eligible spend)
  • up to $25 back per day on inflight food and beverage
  • up to $50 back on inflight Wi-Fi each anniversary year

The Barclays companion certificate follows the same “one more earn through the next anniversary” rule; certificates already issued keep their dates. The old version was two guests at $99 each after $20,000 spend. Globe also has its own anniversary companion certificate (one guest, $99, after renewal), which is a different benefit.

The “up to 15,000 additional Loyalty Points” perk can still be earned through the status qualification period ending February 28, 2027, then it is removed.

Citi already said AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points in the airline account are not affected by the issuer change, and qualifying spend from the Barclays period still counts toward these legacy thresholds.

This is a calendar for people who already converted, not a pitch for a new card. October 25 ends the Barclays holdover list, not the Citi card. Globe still has four Admirals Club Globe passes and its own companion certificate. Platinum Select still has the free checked bag and the $125 flight discount.

If your anniversary sits near late October, the last companion-certificate earn window is short. Use the statement notice and the Directory of Services. Don’t waste certificates already sitting in the AAdvantage account.
