What happened

The Verge, citing 9to5Mac, says X Money is rolling out in the US. The product is part of Elon Musk's plan to make X an everything app.

X Money metal Visa (The Verge / X)

Per the report, X Money includes

  • a digital wallet
  • Venmo-like person-to-person transfers
  • a metal Visa that can print your X username
  • Apple Wallet
  • free transfers on X

Marketing cites up to about 6% APY. Premium Plus can take that rate. Regular Premium needs a deposit hurdle before a boost toward about 6% APY. The exact hurdle follows official / in-app copy.

X Money was invite-only. This wave is US X Premium and Premium Plus. Musk talked about early public access around April. The public push came months later.

X brand visual (The Verge)

US Senator Elizabeth Warren had already flagged safety concerns, arguing X Money could raise risk for consumers, national security, and financial stability. Musk has wanted payments on X for years. In 2023 he told staff, in substance, that if it involves money it should live on the platform.

Carddoger take

X is putting a wallet, transfers, and a metal Visa in front of US subscribers, past a small invite test.

  1. Gate. US plus Premium or Premium Plus in the current copy
  2. Username on metal Visa is the visible extra. Approval, limit, and risk checks are another story
  3. 6% APY is not automatic for everyone. Plus and regular Premium differ. Read the deposit hurdle
  4. Regulators are already talking. Onboarding, KYC, and disclosures can still move

If you want this as a daily pay account, confirm you are in the US with the right X plan, then read fees, APY, KYC, and card apply terms in the app. Do not stop at the headline APY.

X / X Money official copy and the issuer terms win. This is public media, not open or invest advice.
