What this covers

Dialog is a leading Sri Lankan carrier, and foreigners can apply for a prepaid eSIM on its website with just a passport, no trip required. Keeping the number is cheap: top up Rs 50 every 30 days (roughly ¥2 / US$0.17). It suits anyone who wants an uncommon, long-term backup foreign number.

This guide covers the online application and the keep-alive and roaming basics. Plans and rules change, so defer to Dialog's website and app.

Before you start

  • You need a passport, plus a contact phone number and email for verification
  • KYC is fully online: passport upload, selfie, address details, and a signature
  • Apply here: Dialog new connection page
  • The MyDialog app lets you check balance and top up

Steps

1. Choose prepaid

Open the application page, pick Prepaid as the connection type, scroll to the plans, and tap SELECT.

Carddoger summary

Dialog's eSIM is a good fit if you want a long-term backup foreign number without a real monthly bill: open it online with a passport, keep it for about ¥2 a month, and enjoy a number that is far less common than the usual UK SIMs.

Keep a balance and top up on time, since roaming speed depends on the balance threshold. Keep-alive periods, rates, and roaming rules follow Dialog's latest website and app policies.
