What this guide covers
Red Pocket is a US mobile virtual operator. The line can sit on AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon, depending on the kit you buy and whether the phone is compatible. On 28 October 2026, 鸟叔 (@niaoshu) bought the annual plan sold by RedPocket Store on eBay: listed at $30, variant eSIM Phone Kit, titled unlimited talk and text plus 200MB per period. He finished signup on the Red Pocket site and installed the eSIM.
This is a prepaid US number for SMS and for keeping a line, with a small data allowance. It is not an identity document. Whether a bank or an app accepts the number depends on that service's check.
Before you start
The follow-along used:
- An email address that can receive mail. Both the eBay receipt and the Red Pocket activation message go there.
- A card eBay will charge. The post paid with a China Merchants Bank Visa. Other cards have worked for other people.
- A phone that can install an eSIM. It needs to be unlocked and to support VoLTE on the network you are buying. Check the IMEI on Red Pocket's site before you pay.
- A network that can open the site. The post says an ordinary proxy often failed signup. He registered on redpocket.com over UK mobile roaming. Others have used Hong Kong or Singapore roaming. That is follow-along experience, not a promise.
Use a billing address you can actually account for. Sales tax follows the ship-to state. One frame in the post, with a Washington address, shows $3.15 tax and a $33.15 total. The order he paid, with an Oregon address, was $30.00 with no separate tax line. Do not invent a random US address to strip the tax.
The activation form asks for the device MEID/IMEI. Enter the IMEI of the phone that will hold the eSIM. Dial *#06#, or read it in system settings. Do not paste an IMEI from a generator website. A made-up number can fail activation or collide with a real device.
If a mainland China phone cannot install an eSIM, the post used an adapter called XeSIM. That is his hardware choice, not a Red Pocket accessory.
Steps
Step 1. Buy the right variant on eBay
Open RedPocket Store's annual plan: the eBay listing. The seller should be RedPocket Store. The title reads $2.50/Mo and UNLIMITED Talk/Text + 200MB. For a first line, choose eSIM Phone Kit. Do not choose the physical SIM, and do not choose Renewal / Existing SIM. The renewal variant is for a number you already have.
Then Buy It Now. Checkout can be Check out as guest. An eBay account is optional.

Check three things: the variant is eSIM, the email is correct, and the tax matches what you expect. The paid order in the post was a $30 item, free shipping, and a $30 total.

A Washington ship-to address on another frame added tax. Trust the Order Summary on your own checkout.

A few minutes after payment, RedPocket Mobile emails the Confirmation Code. The sender is often ebay@redpocket.com. Keep the whole code. If eBay asks you to create an account, you can close that prompt.

Step 2. Activate on the Red Pocket site
Open redpocket.com in the phone browser and create an account. Use your real name and email. The marketing checkbox can stay off.
The activate screen has two fields. Confirmation Code is the string from the email. Device MEID/IMEI is the phone's own IMEI. Then enter a US address and a service ZIP. The post used ZIP 90012, and the number that came back started with 213, a Los Angeles area code. The ZIP is what places the number. The street still has to be an address you can explain.
Do not close the page after submit. The post waited about 2 minutes, then the email arrived saying the number was ready. Account details can take another 10 minutes to show on the site.

Step 3. Install the eSIM and run two small tests
A later email carries the eSIM instructions and a QR code. Scan it with the camera on the phone that should hold the line, then confirm the system prompt. That QR is the install credential. Do not forward it.
After it installs, send an SMS from another number and confirm it arrives. Turn on data roaming and see whether mobile data connects. In this follow-along the roaming session showed up on AT&T, geolocated to Chicago. That was one check on his line. It does not mean every kit uses AT&T, and it does not mean the person is in the United States.
On Red Pocket's own plan pages, Global Passport roaming on GSMA (AT&T) is included on some plans, often 100 minutes and 100 texts per cycle, with a data amount that changes by plan. The $30 eBay annual kit is a separate product. The post says that kit includes 100 roaming minutes, 100 roaming texts, and 100MB of roaming data. Read the allowance in your account and on the listing you bought. Do not copy the 10GB roaming figure from the website's $30 monthly plan onto this annual kit. Domestic talk and text are unlimited in the listing title. High-speed data is 200MB per period.
Step 4. Renew before the line stops
This kit is often 360 days, not a neat 365. Read the duration on the listing before you pay, and write down the end date.
Near the end, go back to the same store and choose Renewal / Existing SIM. Apply the renewal code to the same number. After payment, check that the expiry in the account moved forward. Buyer comments say a renewal can add tax, and that the new term can replace the current cycle. Do not wait until the number is already off. A stopped number is not guaranteed to come back.

Carddoger总结
The follow-along bought RedPocket Store's eSIM annual kit on eBay, listed at $30, with unlimited talk and text plus 200MB. A first line uses eSIM Phone Kit, and guest checkout is enough. The activation code is in the Red Pocket email. The IMEI is the phone's own. The ZIP affects the area code. The post used 90012 and received a 213 Los Angeles number.
Tax follows the ship-to state. Use a real address and a real IMEI. Do not forward the QR code. Roaming and the 200MB bucket follow this eBay listing and the account page, not a different monthly plan on the website. Renew before the end date, and confirm the date actually moved.
Trust the eBay listing, the Red Pocket activation page, and the allowances shown in the account. This article compiles one follow-along and public plan notes. It does not mean any particular bank or app will accept the number.
